Transparent Spirit is a series of self-portraits inspired by and in conversation with Italo Calvino’s book Invisible Cities. Calvino speaks of the text as being a love poem to the city. Each of his 55 cities is named after a woman and every ‘she’ is a combination of memories, desires and personal symbols. These “‘feminine spaces’ have mere traces of reality, while existing more in the realm of abstraction and emotion.
