Profound conflicts are addressed by experts from different disciplines from various perspectives, which are fundamental for the therapeutic treatment.

Fairies, Goblins, Gnomes, Elves, Trolls... Creatures linked to a mythical and fairy-tale spirituality. They  belong to a natural, but transcendent and magical dimension, different aspects of a single Unity from which man has moved away.

Through the true stories told here, and linked to these fantastic (or obvious?) Creatures, the world of Magic becomes a current reality.  Our everyday life is deprived of its uniqueness and its presumed universality.

The human being can thus rediscover not only his childhood’s forgotten language, and sometimes experience a lost paradise once more. He can also discover the way to enter a new spiritual universe, infinitely richer than the present closed world.

We will discover how the Little People have moved from myth to the collective imagination entering the folk cultures of all peoples, even though with some differences in the names and methods of representation, both physical and symbolic.

A Journey into the World of Art

Free online workshop in Italian for children aged 4 - 10

Run by Silvia Gentili and Manuela Stucchi

Saturday 15th May 2021

At a time when new forms of social cohesion are needed, MAGMA Hub proposes to rediscover being together through art and creativity with three free online workshops dedicated to children aged 4 to 10.

We will create stories using sounds, shapes and colours, rediscovering the joy of dreaming of fantastic worlds together while stimulating imagination at a time in history when it is even more difficult for children to make sense of their feelings and of the changes they are experiencing.

A one hour workshop will be dedicated to each of the three age groups 4-5, 6-7 and 8-10 years old.

Workshop 4-5 years: 10.30 - 11.30 am
Workshop 8-10 years: 2.30 - 3.30 pm
Workshop 6-7 years: 4.30 - 5.30 pm

MAGMA Hub

I am pleased to introduce MAGMA Hub, a medical humanities hub created and directed by me within CIDP (Italian Centre for Personality Disorders).

The intent is to open an interdisciplinary dialogue to create a space where new methodologies and ways of expression can be explored and created to help patients find their voice in dealing with illness and the trauma it brings, which is not always part of the therapeutic process.

The integration of medicine and treatment, humanities and art can improve people's health and wellbeing by overcoming limitations, contexts and socio-cultural inequalities. They become a mode of expression, methodology, therapy, and a means through which new forms of expression can be created to overcome the stigma and isolation with which the disease is often associated.

Through the Looking Glass - Online workshop on self-portraiture

Thought the Looking Glass - Online Workshop on self-portraiture

11th Feb - 18th March

6 meetings from 6:30 pm to 9:30 pm (CET)

Self-portraiture is self-representation. It allows communication with one's own inner image, which is the base for self-knowledge and personal memory.
Self-portraiture means also storytelling and allows not only to tell about one's inner world but also about external reality.

What we will cover:

The purpose of this workshop is to develop a method through research, focus on goals, and technical and aesthetic choices that will allow creating a photographic project based on self-portraiture.

We will focus on the use of body, movement, sound, and text.

Each participant will develop a personal project.

One of the meetings will be run in collaboration with Dr. Manuela Stucchi, psychologist and psychoanalytic psychotherapist.

It is not necessary to have photography knowledge. Participants can use cameras or cell phones to make their projects.

Workshop Frammenti di Realtà. Autoscatto e autorappresentazione.

Self-portraiture is self-representation. It allows communication with one's own inner image, which is the base for self-knowledge and personal memory and often does not correspond with the vision one has of themselves. Reality appears ephemeral, and exploration leads to questions such as: "Who Am I really?" Often, we do not recognize or accept the portrayed image, and being placed in front of one's own image involves aesthetic concerns. This is due to the distorted perception of the internalized image compared to the real one.

How would you portray yourself? We will explore personal perception through elements concerning the self and its appearance using informed choices. "How do I perceive myself?", "How do others see me?" and "How do I want to be seen?" During this workshop, participants will use different methods to explore their own representation, such as photography, drawing with watercolors, collage and text. They will go home with a self-made small book, finished with Japanese binding, which will contain the material produced during the two days of the workshop.

Workshop Sacripante.jpg

Come ti ritrarresti?

Political Bodies
L’arTe è parTe di Te
February 10th - February 17th 2019
Galleria Cavour, Padova

Private View 9th February from 5pm

Political Bodies, promoted by the Arts and Culture Department of the city of Padua and supported by CIDP (Italian Centre of Personality Disorders), presents 10 emerging artists who, through photography, sculpture, video, and performance, have placed the human body central into their practice, either as a physical entity or as a metaphor. The body is hidden, wounded, isolated, and vulnerable. It is a space to explore contemporary themes such as identity and representation, sexuality and gender, society and media.

The invited artists come from different countries and cultures, but they are united by the use of the body as subject and medium; creating a universal language able to give voice to inner and personal worlds as well as to raise questions on social and political issues.

Artists included in the show are Jocelyn Allen, Mariana Bisti, Blør, Diego Brambilla, Silvia Gentili, Dionysis Livanis, Yole Quintero, Christopher Schulz, Paloma Tendero, and Emese Wu.

The issues addressed in the exhibition will be discussed in talks with the artists and Italian and international figures of psychoanalysis, philosophy, and art.
